The two people behind this blog are Judy Giannettino and Joanne Marino Bartram, friends who want to share their passion for Italy with you.

Judy is a lifelong writer, wanderer and wonderer who lived in sunny and dry New Mexico until she made a long-desired move to Italy in September 2019. She finds beauty everywhere in Italy - the sun-drenched land, the clear blue seas, the people, art and music, and, most of all, the language. She has visited several other countries, from Botswana to China, Mexico to Zimbabwe; every western (northwest, southwest or just plain west) state in the continental United States and much of the East Coast, but only a few of the states in the middle (she swears she'll get to them all at some point). She lives in an apartment in Italy with her sweet and spoiled yellow Labrador retriever, Bodhi.

Joanne's earliest travel memories are road trips with four siblings in the back of her parent's Rambler station wagon and one magical train trip from New York to Virginia with her grandfather. So began a lifelong passion for travel. Her travels began in earnest 20 years ago with a life-changing two-week trip to Italy. For many years she regularly visited Italy to study the language, culture, and cooking, and traveled within the United States, as well as to Canada, England, and throughout Europe. In late 2018 she moved full time to Italy. She lives in an apartment in Lucca and continues to write, travel, and explore. It really is a “dolce vita”.

It is in Italy that Judy and Joanne feel they can truly follow the advice of Marcus Aurelius to "Dwell on the beauty of life."
